Reserve Bank of Australia Annual Report – 1971 Staff

The Board wishes to express its appreciation for the loyal and efficient manner in which the staff carried out their duties throughout the year.

Staff numbers totalled 3,558 at 30 June 1971, an increase of 2.2 per cent over the year. Of these, 1,026 were employed in the Administration, 1,687 in branches and 845 at Note Issue Department.

The Bank continued to provide officers for secondment to various overseas financial bodies. The Bank's staff training programme, which is conducted both internally and externally, includes a number of officers currently attending university and other courses under the Bank's bursary scheme.

Mr E.S. Eyers, Adviser to the Governor, who had been seconded as Chairman of the Housing Loans Insurance Corporation since 1965, resumed duty with the Bank in June 1971.

Mr R.A. Conolly, Manager, Accounting Department, retired in July 1971 and was succeeded in this position by Dr D.G. Badger.
