First Nations Advisory Panel

The RBA’s First Nations Advisory Panel provides advice on issues relevant to First Nations Australians and the RBA’s engagements with First Nations people.

The Panel plays an important role in guiding the RBA’s reconciliation agenda, supporting goals such as increasing employment of First Nations people, enhancing the RBA’s approach to First Nations procurement, and building stronger connections with First Nations students and their academic institutions.

Comprising of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander leaders and experts, the Panel members are appointed by the Governor for two-year terms and meet quarterly.

In 2023/24, the Panel provided valuable insights to various RBA departments, including Procurement, Information Department, Economic Group, the $5 banknote redesign project in the Note Issue Department, the First Nations Employee Resource Group, and the RBA’s First Nations team.
