Supplementary Information

This ‘read me’ file details the replication files for RDP 2023-10. The Codes folder contains Stata's do files that are used to produce the results presented in the paper and the appendices. The Stata codes were run on Stata MP 18 (64 bit).

If you make use of any of these files you should clearly attribute the authors in any derivative work.

Folder structure

The main folder contains the ‘rdp-2023-10-read-me.pdf' file and the xlsx file ‘rdp-2023-10-graph-data.xlsx', which provides the data for all figures as printed in the RDP in excel format.

It also contains the following folder:

Codes

This folder contains the files you can use to reproduce the analysis, including:

  • Data Setup.do: this code cleans data and sets up variables for analysis.
  • Tables.do: this code produces the descriptive statistics and regression tables in the paper.
  • Event Studies.do: this code estimates the event studies and produces the graphs presented in the paper.
  • Staggered DDD.do: this code estimates the staggered difference-in-difference-in-difference equation in Appendix F.

Data used in these codes are bound by contractual agreements and cannot be released publicly. The information contained in these files covers:

  • morningstar_final.dta – contains financial information of Australian listed firms from Morningstar database.
  • adoption_cleaned.dta – contains indicators of adoption of technologies as discussed in the paper for Australian listed firms.
  • ASX People Board Current – by Firm.dta – contains information about the background of the Board of Directors of Australian listed firms.
  • list_dates.dta – contains the listing dates of Australian listed firms.
  • Hire_data_cur.dta – contains indicators of whether Australian listed firms are seeking workers with relevant skills.
