Reserve Bank of Australia Annual Report – 1982 Staff

During the year, the Bank's staff met a number of out-of-the-ordinary demands, including the transfer of note printing operations and the work flowing from the completion of the Inquiry into the Australian Financial System. The Board wishes to record its appreciation of the high standards of efficiency and loyalty displayed throughout the year by the members of the Bank's staff.

Staff numbered 3,825 at 30 June 1982, an increase of 71 during the year. This compares with increases of 106 in 1980/81 and 83 in 1979/80 and falls of 24 in 1978/79 and 57 in 1977/78. The figure for 30 June 1982 includes 127 officers on extended leave (including confinement and maternity leave), an increase of 31 over the year, and 15 officers on secondment with other organisations in Australia and overseas.

During the year, Mr J.S. Mallyon, a Chief Manager of the Bank, concluded his commitments as a member of the Committee of Inquiry into the Australian Financial System. Mr R.A. Forsyth, Manager for New South Wales retired in March 1982 and Mr L.N. Nash, Manager for Western Australia, in July 1982.
