Reserve Bank of Australia Consumer Payments Survey

Thank you for participating in this study on how Australians make everyday payments. The survey is sponsored by the Reserve Bank of Australia and conducted by Ipsos. This study builds on earlier surveys conducted in 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, and 2022, providing the Reserve Bank with valuable insights into consumer payment behaviour.

Over a seven-day period, you’ll be asked to record each payment you make, as well as any instances where you top up with cash. Before and after this diary period, we’ll also ask you to complete short questionnaires with some additional questions.

As a token of appreciation for your time and effort, Ipsos will provide you with a $100 gift card upon completion of both the seven-day diary and the questionnaires.

All your responses will remain strictly confidential. The data provided to the Reserve Bank by Ipsos will be used solely for research purposes. These data are anonymous – at no point will the Reserve Bank be able to identify any individual participant. The Reserve Bank will publish aggregated results only, and no information that could identify individual respondents will be released.
