Equal Employment Opportunity Annual Report – 1990 Overview
In 1989/90, the Bank:
- developed and publicised a two-year plan for the period January 1990 to December 1991; and
- made a number of policy changes in keeping with that and the previous plan.
The two-year plan outlined the Bank's EEO objectives and the major programmes to achieve those objectives.
In line with the plan, important changes were made during the year in the Bank's personnel policies and practices. These included:
- a restructure of job classifications, with increased opportunities for staff to broaden their skills and experience;
- improvements to parental leave provisions and to part-time work arrangements; and
- further progress in developing indicators to monitor the effectiveness of the Bank's EEO policies.
Following a review of the Bank's currency printing activities, Note Printing Australia (NPA) was established in February 1990 as a separately managed Division of the Bank. Note Printing Australia management is committed to ensuring that EEO principles are maintained in the operations of the Division; a working party is currently examining EEO issues.
