Equal Employment Opportunity Annual Report – 1989 Overview
In 1988/89, the Bank implemented a substantial part of its two-year EEO plan for the period January 1988 to December 1989.
Some important changes were made during the year to the Bank's personnel policies and practices, the main ones being:
- a revised programme of staff training, with EEO material in all courses for managers and supervisors;
- a new set of grievance procedures, establishment of a Grievance Authority and appointment of grievance officers;
- reviews of job design and job classifications; and
- progress in developing indicators to enable the Bank to monitor the effectiveness of its EEO policies. The statistical base for this work was provided by results of an EEO statistical survey in September 1987, results from which were improved and up-dated during 1988/89.
Particular attention was given to policies to enhance opportunities for women and the other designated groups (Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders, people with disabilities, people for whom English is not a first language). In turn, these policies will provide much of the framework for a new EEO plan which is to be finalised by the start of 1990.
