The tax adjustments to the CPI all groups inflation rates represent the Bank's estimate of the effect of tax changes in 1999/2000 on prices. They were calculated at the level of individual CPI expenditure items and, separately, at the level of the aggregate price index. The estimates do not account for any bringing-forward or deferral of expenditure associated with the removal of wholesale sales taxes and the introduction of the goods and services tax.
