MONETARY POLICY
Information about the Reserve Bank's monetary policy
framework and the effect of that policy on the Australian economy.
The Reserve Bank issues a Statement on Monetary
Policy four times a year. These statements assess current economic conditions
and the prospects for inflation and output growth. These statements have
replaced the Semi-Annual Statements on Monetary Policy and the Quarterly
Reports on the Economy and Financial Markets which were previously issued
by the Bank.
The Governor, Deputy Governor and other senior officers of the Bank appear generally twice-yearly before the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics.
Agreement between the Governor of the Reserve Bank and the Government on Australia's monetary policy framework and the roles and responsibilities of the Reserve Bank. Previous statements were published in August 1996, July 2003 and September 2006.
Media releases following meetings of the Reserve Bank Board.
Beginning in December 2007, minutes of the monetary policy meetings of the Reserve Bank Board are published two weeks after each meeting. Also in December 2007, minutes of the monetary policy meetings from October 2006 to November 2007 were published. The Reserve Bank Board normally meets eleven times each year, on the first Tuesday of each month, except January.
