SENIOR APPOINTMENT

The Reserve Bank of Australia today announced the appointment of Mr John Broadbent as Head of Domestic Markets Department.

Mr Broadbent holds a Bachelors Degree in Commerce, with first class honours, from the University of New South Wales, and a Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE).  He has extensive experience in the fields of economics and financial markets.  Prior to his appointment, Mr Broadbent was deputy head of Domestic Markets Department.

Mr Broadbent will take up duties today.
