PAYMENT SYSTEMS AND NETTING ACT 1998: APPROVAL OF NETTING ARRANGEMENT

As foreshadowed in the media release of 5 March 2007, the Reserve Bank has today approved the netting arrangement operated by the ASX Settlement and Transfer Corporation (ASTC) under Section 12 of the Payment Systems and Netting Act 1998. The approval will provide legal certainty to the netting undertaken by ASTC in the event that a party to the arrangement enters external administration.
