SENIOR APPOINTMENT

The Reserve Bank today announced that Dr Philip Lowe, currently Head of Domestic Markets Department in the Financial Markets Group, will move to become Head of Economic Analysis Department, which is one of two departments in the Economic Group.

The current Head of Economic Analysis Department, Dr Guy Debelle, is taking a year's leave from the Bank from late June. Dr Debelle will spend six months as a visiting professor at MIT, then six months at the Bank for International Settlements, returning to the RBA in mid 2004.

The Bank will make a new appointment to Head of Domestic Markets Department shortly.
