SENIOR APPOINTMENT

The Reserve Bank today announced the appointment of Dr Guy Debelle as Head of Economic Analysis Department. This follows the recent transfer of the previous Head, Dr Malcolm Edey, to Domestic Markets Department.

Dr Debelle, a graduate of the University of Adelaide, holds a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has held positions in the Commonwealth Treasury, the IMF and the Reserve Bank. He has an extensive research and publication record on monetary policy, inflation targeting and applied analysis of the Australian economy. Prior to this appointment, Dr Debelle had been Deputy Head of Economic Analysis Department since July 1998.
