AUSTRALIAN FINANCIAL REVIEW ARTICLE - 1 SEPTEMBER 1999

The Reserve Bank of Australia confirmed that the article on page 1 of today's Australian Financial Review attributing certain statements to the Governor was not true. The Governor had chaired a session at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City's Symposium on "New Challenges for Monetary Policy" at Jackson Hole last week, but he did not speak on Australian monetary policy.
