SENIOR APPOINTMENT

The Reserve Bank today announced the appointment of Dr Philip Lowe as Head of Economic Research Department. Dr Lowe joined the Bank in 1980, working first in International Department and later in Economic Research Department. Since 1995, he has been a Chief Economist in the Economic Analysis Department. He holds a First Class Honours Degree in Economics and Econometrics from the University of New South Wales and a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and has a strong record of research and publication in applied macro-economics.
